Hindi is a language that originated in the Indian subcontinent. There are approximately 370,000,000 people who claim Hindi as their mother tongue. Several hundred million more speak Hindi as a second language. That makes Hindi second or third most spoken language in the world. Hindi, which belongs to the Indo - European languages family, is spoken in Northen and Central India. Hindi is written in Devnagari script which is also used in writing Sanskrit, Marathi and Nepali. Modern Devnagari script emerged in around 11th AD from Brahmi script. In 769 AD Siddha Sarahpad, who is considered as the first Hindi poet, composed Dohakosh in Old Hindi . Hindi is an official language of India.

The goal of any language learning is to develop communicative skills in speaking as well as in writing. My students will acquire these skills by engaging themselves in different Interpretive, Interpersonal and Presentational tasks. The students will be able to develop interpretive skills by reading and listening Hindi text. The students will be able to talk in Hindi to their friends and speakers of Hindi. The students will be able to make presentations in spoken as well as written format in Hindi.
